Suicide

In this video, Dr. Phil Fernandes, President of the Institute of Biblical Defense and pastor of Trinity Bible Fellowship, addresses a question he's often asked in pastoral counseling: what happens, biblically, to someone who dies by suicide. He acknowledges Scripture doesn't give a definitive answer, and distinguishes between how he'd counsel someone currently struggling with suicidal thoughts versus how he'd comfort someone grieving a loved one lost to suicide. He also discusses several biblical figures whose deaths are sometimes debated in this context, including Samson and King Saul.

If you or anyone watching this video is struggling with thoughts of suicide, please reach out to one of our Pastors or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the US) is available 24/7.
